| Oxford
Science park has been masterplanned as an environment to encourage and
promote research and business activities. This concern for quality extends
beyond the buildings and facilities they offer into the very environment
in which the building are set. The plan calls for the design of the buildings,
car parks and roads to be integrated into an attractive landscape providing
pleasant surroundings in which to both work and relax.
EPR were invited
to compete in a limited competition following the success of their competition
winning scheme in GreenPark Reading. The site forms the final stage of
phase 1 and adds two 4 storey buildings of 67,000 sq ft and 33,000 sq
ft to the Science Park. Both buildings are were completed in 2003.
Oxford Science Park
gained an award from ‘Oxford Preservation Trust’ in 2003:
''Magdalen
Science Park received the final plaque, a joint award recognising the
contribution made to the City by the recently built Danby and Sherard
buildings, good looking buildings of the highest quality, and a recognition
of their landscape setting creating a positive entrance to the south
side of the City – good both visually and environmentally''. Oxford
