The site is located just within the South Shoreditch Conservation Area and within the Shoreditch Area Action Plan boundary.

In October 2002 planning permission was granted for alterations to Telephone House, adjacent to the site, including the over-cladding of the building to give it a more contemporary look.

As part of that work EPR had identified the possibility of developing a triangular section of the service yard fronting onto Tabernacle Street, which is currently used for parking, hard standing for standby generators and refuse skips.

The proposal is to redevelop the site to provide restaurant / bar use and residential accommodation, which will provide a genuine contribution to the regeneration of the Shoreditch area.

The proposal aims to provide high quality and distinctive contemporary architecture informed by the historical context. The 2 level A1/A3 units provides activities at ground floor level and a mixture of 1 bed, 2 bed, 3 bed & 4 bed units provides a varied modulation to the facades with balconies used to accentuate corners.

The scheme is currently awaiting Planning Consent.
