| FutureBrand are a large
successful design and branding company with offices across
the world. EPR were asked to assist FutureBrand in their move
from their existing offices in the Barbican to new and larger
premises in Southwark St. The contract involved interpreting
the clients design concepts, dealing with planning issues
and facilitating the build process as part of a team that
included a contract administrator, services consultant and
main contractor over a 5 month programme. A great deal of
importance was placed on the interpretation and quality of
the built design as it was made clear by the client that the
interior reflected FutureBrand's brand values both to the
visiting clients and the staff using the building. It was
therefore vital that we re-designed the base build front entrance
in order to create a more open and visually aesthetic entrance
that acted as a shop window to passers by and clients.
The biggest lesson came with
the clients decision to include the provision of an internal
restaurant and café that was for clients and staff
to have both refreshments and an informal meeting area halfway
through the programme. It was important that the restaurant
could be viewed from reception so as to give a sense of creative
activity. We learnt that the logistics and execution of a
restaurant within an office is far more complicated and involved
(especially the services) as well as costly than had originally
been programmed.
