Our proposals integrated a new, larger supermarket with a high-density residential quarter featuring a rich variety of spaces, buildings and architecture. The design also aimed to establish an exemplary environmental standard in terms of construction, building materials, waste management and energy usage/retention and levels of car dependency and ownership.
Legible and strong desire lines create a permeable site and interlink a series of new public spaces, whilst new basins and a meadow strengthen and complement the canal-side character.
The scheme provides a coherent, phaseable and high-quality urban masterplan which enhances the canal and cemetery setting whilst taking inspiration from the wider character of Ladbroke Grove and the Grand Union Canal.
