Royal College of Nursing
This project comprised a Grade II listed, seven-storey period structure with a singular and unique history dating from the 1730s to the 1920s. Refurbishment of the existing building and modernisation of the offices, teaching areas and library were essential for the Royal College of Nursing to continue using these premises as their main headquarters.
A glazed walkway/lift addition hung off the existing fabric within the central courtyard redefined the original architectural concept by clarifying the circulation flow within the building. The careful and respectful rearrangement of spaces created a more coherent and unified whole.
