David Sparks, Head of EPR’s Manchester studio, joined a group of design experts at x+why's Manchester outpost for Mix Interior's latest roundtable discussion on sustainability.
Chaired by Mix Interiors Deputy Editor Chloé Petersen Snell, the thought-provoking conversation centred around the question – is it enough to just design sustainably? As the panel explored the need for a shift from maintaining the status quo to actively improving and healing our ecosystems, David noted that ‘doing less bad to actively doing good is a fairly major mindset shift’, underlining the crucial role designers need to play in driving this change.
As the discussion moved towards regenerative design, David highlighted that this transformative approach requires granular research and tailored solutions for local challenges. He emphasised that regenerative design should focus on addressing specific local needs with innovations that are both contextually relevant and sustainable.
A huge thank you to Mix Interiors for providing a platform to explore these important issues and for fostering such an engaging dialogue.
