Life drawing at All Saints

At EPR, hand sketching plays a vital role in our design development process — helping to communicate ideas, reinforce concepts and solve problems — alongside digital design methods. To nurture this creative skill, we are proud to offer regular life drawing classes for our staff in the hub of our London studio, All Saints.

One of our recent sessions focused on colour, as EPR’s artists explored a more expressive and personal visual identity. Under the expert guidance of figurative painter Dan Whiteson, the class took inspiration from revolutionary art movements like Fauvism, known for its strong colours and fierce brushstrokes, as well as contemporary artists such as Andrew Salgado and Martin Campos. The session began with quick sketches of the model in various dynamic poses, before moving on to experimentation with different mediums, including oil pastels, soft pastels, watercolours and coloured pencils, each bringing a unique intensity to the work. The class concluded with one longer, more complex pose for the final composition.

This session well and truly pushed EPR’s artists outside of their comfort zone, leading to some fantastic, colourful results! Swipe through to see some shots from the class.
