EPR’s Sustainability Strategy Chair, Hannah Baker, recently joined industry leaders at the inaugural Workspace Design Show for an insightful NLA panel exploring the design and delivery of net zero workplaces across London. The discussion delved into how waste reduction, reuse and retrofit strategies are being embedded into projects at scale and how this is reshaping workplace design to better support wellbeing and community.
Chaired by Frances Brown of Cundall Global and an NLA Expert Panel member on Work, the panellists shared innovative strategies for reducing waste, extending building life, rethinking material use and adapting existing assets to respond to evolving patterns of work — highlighting how retrofit is fast becoming the industry standard.
Hannah highlighted All Saints, EPR’s net zero carbon in-operation London studio, as a case study in the normalisation of retrofit. With around half of EPR’s current commercial portfolio focused on existing buildings, she emphasised the importance of doing more with less, including improving form factors and maximising material performance, while creating workplaces that actively support staff wellbeing.
A big thank you to Workspace Design Show and NLA London for hosting such a valuable conversation on the future of sustainable workplaces.
